Wood scores 34 in loss

The Annawan Braves held off the Mercer County Golden Eagles Tuesdaynight and scored a 70-63 victory.

This despite the efforts of Colton Wood who lit up the scoreboard with 34 points for the Golden Eagles. Wood recently passed the 1,000 point mark in scoring for the school.

The game was close throughout. Annawan led 13-12 after the first quarter but Mercer County scored 23 points in the second quarter and led 35-34 at the half.

Annawan outscored Mercer County 16-12 in the third period and led by three points heading into the final period.

Scoring for Mercer County were: Wood, 34; Tyson Nylin, 14; Brett Bieri, eight; Brad Sabel, four; Zach aldinger, two and Austin Hyett, one.

Scoring for Annawan were: Austin Bitting, 21; Tony Gripp, 14; Grant Baele, 13; Don Kirkhove, 11; Megan Smith, six and Michael Smith, five.
