McVay to Play Volleyball, Women’s Basketball at Sandburg
Caitlin McVay of Rockridge High School has signed to play volleyball and women’s basketball next season at Carl Sandburg College.
A 6-foot middle hitter in volleyball, McVay set school records foraces and digs in a career. In addition to being a two-time first-team all-West Central Conference North Division pick, McVay was a member of the Moline Dispatch-Rock Island Argus all-area team and a special mention all-state selection by the Champaign News-Gazette as a senior. She led the Rockets with 236 kills and 41 blocks last season while adding 175 digs and 41 aces.
A forward for the Rockets’ girls basketball team, McVay averaged 12.0 points and 10.3 rebounds this past season. She was an honorable mention all-area pick by the Dispatch-Argus as well as honorable mention all-WCC North and helped Rockridge finish the season 18-12.
