Silver Streaks breeze; Knoxville leads area winners

Galesburg — The Galesburg Silver Streaks erupted to a 38-0 halftime lead and dominated Harvey Thornton 52-12 to claim their first victory of the football season on Friday.

Jon Sibley's 40-yard punt return for a touchdown and Amarie Richardson's first of three rushing TDs in the game got Galesburg off to a quick 14-0 start in the first quarter.

Richardson added a 47-yard TD run in the second quarter, Tristan Legate hit Mikey Eiker with a 16-yard scoring pass and Sam Satisky kicked a 37-yard field goal to make it 38-0 by halftime.

Satisky would kick 7 extra points along with the field goal before the night was over.

Amarie Richardson breaks open a run in the first quarter for the Silver Streaks. The junior running back rushed 20 times for 183 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

Richardson added a 13-yard TD run in the third quarter and sophomore Darius Walker scored on  6-yard run in the fourth quarter to cap the Streaks scoring.

Richardson rushed 20 times for 183 yards in the game. Legate threw for 140 yards and 2 TDs, both of those to Eiker.

Galesburg 1-1, will host Sterling in its Western Big Six Conference opener next Friday.

Thornton fell to 0-2.
